RESUMO

Objective: To analyze the incidence and survival rate of liver cancer cases in the entire population in the Qidong region from 1972 to 2019, so as to provide a basis for prognosis evaluation, prevention, and treatment. Methods: The observed survival rate (OSR) and relative survival rate (RSR) of 34 805 cases of liver cancer in the entire Qidong region population from 1972 to 2019 were calculated using Hakulinen's method with SURV3.01 software. Hakulinen's likelihood ratio test was used for statistical analysis. Age-standardized relative survival (ARS) was calculated using the International Cancer Survival Standard. The Joinpoint regression analysis was performed with Joinpoint 4.7.0.0 software to calculate the average annual percentage change (AAPC) of the liver cancer survival rate. Results: 1-ASR increased from 13.80% in 1972-1977 to 50.20% in 2014-2019, while 5-ASR increased from 1.27% in 1972-1977 to 27.64% in 2014-2019. The upward trend of RSR over eight periods was statistically significant (χ (2) = 3045.29, P < 0.001). Among them, male 5-ASR was 0.90%, 1.80%, 2.33%, 4.92%, 5.43%, 7.05%, 10.78%, and 27.78%, and female 5-ASR was 2.33%, 1.51%, 3.35%, 3.92%, 3.84%, 7.18%, 11.45%, and 29.84%, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference in RSR between males and females (χ (2) = 45.68, P < 0.001). The 5-RSR for each age group of 25-34 years old, 35-44 years old, 45-54 years old, 55-64 years old, 65-74 years old, and 75 years old were 4.92%, 5.29%, 8.17%, 11.70%, 11.63%, and 9.60%, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in RSR among different age groups (χ (2) = 501.29, P < 0.001). The AAPC in Qidong region from 1972 to 2019 for 1-ARS, 3-ASR, and 5-ARS were 5.26% (t = 12.35, P < 0.001), 8.10% (t = 15.99, P < 0.001), and 8.96 % (t = 16.06, P < 0.001), respectively. The upward trend was statistically significant in all cases. The AAPC of 5-ARS was 9.82% in males (t = 14.14, P < 0.001), and 8.79% in females (t = 11.48, P < 0.001), and the upward trend was statistically significant in both. The AAPC of 25-34 years old, 35-44 years old, 45-54 years old, 55-64 years old, 65-74 years old, and 75 years old were 5.37% (t = 5.26, P = 0.002), 5.22% (t = 5.66, P = 0.001), 7.20% (t = 6.88, P < 0.001), 10.00% (t = 12.58, P < 0.001), 9.96% (t = 7.34, P < 0.001) and 8.83% (t = 3.51, P = 0.013), and the upward trend was statistically significant. Conclusion: The overall survival rate of registered cases of liver cancer in the Qidong region's entire population has greatly improved, but there is still much room for improvement. Hence, constant attention should be paid to the study on preventing and treating liver cancer.

RESUMO

Objective: To describe the epidemic characteristics of stomach cancer mortality in Qidong between 1972 and 2016. Methods: The cancer registry data of stomach cancer death and population during 1972-2016 in Qidong was collected. The mortality of crude rate (CR), China age-standardized rate (CASR), world age-standardized rate (WASR), 35-64 years truncated rate, 0-74 years cumulative rate, cumulative risk, percentage change (PC), annual percent change (APC) were calculated. Results: During 1972-2016, a total of 15 863 (male: 10 114, female: 5 749) deaths occurred attributed to stomach cancer, accounting for 16.04% of all cancers, with CR of 31.37/100 000 (CASR: 12.97/100 000, WASR: 21.39/100 000). The truncated rate of 35-64, cumulative rate of 0-74, and cumulative risk were 28.86/100 000, 2.54%, and 2.51%, respectively. For male, the CR, CASR, WASR were 40.53/100 000, 17.98/100 000, 30.13/100 000, respectively, and for female, the CR, CASR, WASR were 22.45/100 000, 8.52/100 000, 13.92/100 000, respectively. Age-specific mortality analysis showed that the mortality of each age group under 25-year-old group was less than 1/100 000. The CR increased with age. The 50-year-old group reached and exceeded the average mortality of the population, and more than 80-year-old group reached the peak of death. During 1972-2016 in Qidong, The PCs in CR, CASR, and WASR of stomach cancer were 55.43%, -52.02%, -43.60%. The APC were 0.54%, -2.30%, -2.08%, respectively. Period mortality analysis showed that except for the 75-year-old group, the mortality of stomach cancer decreased significantly. Conclusions: The crude mortality of stomach cancer increases slightly in Qidong, while the CASR and WASR decrease significantly. However, stomach cancer is still one of the malignant tumors that most affect health and seriously threat lives.

RESUMO

Harmaline and harmine are β-carboline alkaloids with effective pharmacological effects. Harmaline can be transformed into harmine after oral administration. However, enzymes involved in the metabolic pathway remain unclear. In this study, harmaline was incubated with rat liver microsomes (RLM), rat brain microsomes (RBM), blood, plasma, broken blood cells, and heme peroxidases including horseradish peroxidase (HRP), lactoperoxidase (LPO), and myeloperoxidase (MPO). The production of harmine was determined by a validated UPLC-ESI-MS/MS method. Results showed that heme peroxidases catalyzed the oxidative dehydrogenation of harmaline. All the reactions were in accordance with the Hill equation. The reaction was inhibited by ascorbic acid and excess H2O2. The transformation of harmaline to harmine was confirmed after incubation with blood, plasma, and broken blood cells, rather than RLM and RBM. Harmaline was incubated with blood, plasma, and broken cells liquid for 3 h, and the formation of harmine became stable. Results indicated an integrated metabolic pathway of harmaline, which will lay foundation for the oxidation reaction of dihydro-β-carboline. Moreover, the metabolic stability of harmaline in blood should not be ignored when the pharmacokinetics study of harmaline is carried out.

RESUMO

Objective: The survival of colorectal cancer in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province from 1972 to 2016 was analyzed to provide a basis for the evaluation of prognosis and the formulation of prevention and control measures. Methods: Colorectal cancer data were obtained from the Qidong Cancer Registration and Reporting System, and the follow-up was up to December 31, 2021. The observed survival rate (OSR) and relative survival rate (RSR) were calculated by SURV 3.01 software, and the trend test was performed by Hakulinen's likelihood ratio test. The Joinpoint regression model was used to calculate the average annual percentage change (AAPC) of survival, and the ARIMA model was used to predict the trend of colorectal cancer survival. Results: There were 8 637 new cases of colorectal cancer in Qidong from 1972 to 2016. Dividing 1972-2016 into 9 periods at 5-year intervals, the 5-year OSR from 1972-1976 to 2012-2016 increased from 21.86% to 48.86%, and the 5-year RSR increased from 26.45% to 59.91%. The increasing trend of RSR was statistically significant (χ(2)=587.47, P<0.001). From 1972 to 2016, the survival rates of colorectal cancer in different sexes in Qidong were similar, and the 5-year RSR was 44.63% for men and 44.07% for women. Since the 1990s, the 5-year OSR and RSR for men have been lower than those for women. From 1972 to 2016, the 5-year RSR of colorectal cancer in Qidong was significantly improved in the 65-74 and ≥75-year-old groups, but the survival rate of the ≥75-year-old group was still the lowest (36.78%), followed by the 35-44-year-old group ( 43.04%). The time trend showed that the overall AAPC of colorectal cancer 5-year RSR in Qidong from 1972 to 2016 was 2.50% (t=16.45, P<0.001). The upward trend of different sexes was consistent, and the increase was greater in women (AAPC for males=2.18%, AAPC for females=2.54%, both P<0.05). The 5-year RSR of colorectal cancer in each age group showed an upward trend, and the AAPCs of the 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, and ≥75-year-old groups were 1.54%, 1.83%, 2.00%, 3.51% and 4.35%, respectively (all P<0.05). The prediction results of colorectal cancer survival rate showed that the 5-year RSR of colorectal cancer in Qidong will increase to 71.62% by 2026. Conclusions: The overall survival rate of colorectal cancer patients in Qidong has been greatly improved, but there is still room for improvement. We should continue to pay attention to the early diagnosis and early treatment of colorectal cancer.

RESUMO

Objective@#The scientific community knows little about the long-term influence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on olfactory dysfunction (OD). With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing worldwide, the risk of imported cases remains high. In China, it is necessary to understand OD in imported cases.@*Methods@#A prospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 11 self-reported patients with COVID-19 and OD from Xi'an No. 8 Hospital were followed between August 19, 2021, and December 12, 2021. Demographics, clinical characteristics, laboratory and radiological findings, and treatment outcomes were analyzed at admission. We surveyed the patients via telephone for recurrence and sequelae at the 1-, 6-, and 12-month follow-up.@*Results@#Eleven patients with OD were enrolled; of these, 54.5% (6/11) had hyposmia and 45.5% (5/11) had anosmia. 63.6% (7/11) reported OD before or on the day of admission as their initial symptom; of these, 42.9% (3/7) described OD as the only symptom. All patients in the study received combined treatment with traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, and 72.7% (8/11) had partially or fully recovered at discharge. In terms of OD recovery at the 12-month follow-up, 45.5% (5/11) reported at least one sequela, 81.8% (9/11) had recovered completely, 18.2% (2/11) had recovered partially, and there were no recurrent cases.@*Conclusions@#Our data revealed that OD frequently presented as the initial or even the only symptom among imported cases. Most OD improvements occurred in the first 2 weeks after onset, and patients with COVID-19 and OD had favorable treatment outcomes during long-term follow-up. A better understanding of the pathogenesis and appropriate treatment of OD is needed to guide clinicians in the care of these patients.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To study the effect of exendin-4(Ex-4) on the differentiation of neural stem cells(NSCs) in adult mouse subventricular zone(SVZ)and its mechanism .@*METHODS@#NSCs in the SVZ were derived from 5-week C57BL/6J mice and the expression of nestin was detected by immunofluorescence. The cell morphology was observed after the cells treatmed with 100 nmol/L Ex-4 for 14 days. The expressions of nestin and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) were detected by immunofluorescence. GLP-1R was knocked down by using shRNA and the study was divided into four groups: control group, Ex-4 group, GLP-1R knockdown group, GLP-1R knockdown + Ex-4 group. After treatment with 100 nmol/L Ex-4 for 14 d, β-tublin III and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) were labeled by immunofluorescence and then the proportion of β-tublin III positive cells were counted. Western blot was used to detect the activation of cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB) in NSCs. In order to further study the effects of Ex-4 on mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-hydroxy kinase (PI3K) pathways, the cells were pretreated with MAPK inhibitor U0126 at a concentration of 0.07 μmol/L for 30 min or PI3K inhibitor LY294002 at 50 μmol for 2 h, respectively. The study was divided into six groups: control group, Ex-4 group, U0126 group, U0126 + Ex-4 group, LY294002 group, LY294002 + Ex-4 group. The activation of CREB in each group was detected by Western blot. The experiment was repeated three times independently.@*RESULTS@#NSCs were successfully extracted from SVZ of C57BL/6J mice. Immunofluorescence showed that nestin and GLP-1R were positive in NSCs. Compared with the control group, the proportion of neurons differentiated from Ex-4 group was higher. The percentage of neurons in GLP-1R knockdown + Ex-4 group was basically the same as that in control group (P<0.01). The positive cells of beta-tublin III showed positive activation of GLP-1R and CREB. Western blot showed that CREB was significantly activated in the Ex-4 group, and knockdown of GLP-1R abolished its activation (P<0.01). U0126 did not affect Ex-4-mediated CERB activation, and LY294002 significantly reduced Ex-4-mediated CREB activation (P<0.01).@*CONCLUSION@#Ex-4 promotes the differentiation of NSCs into neurons in SVZ of adult mice through GLP-1R receptor, which may be achieved through PI3K/CREB pathway.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the effect of Shenluotong Decoction (SD) on serum levels of aldosterone, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), α-smooth muscle protein (α-SMA), and nuclear factor-KB (NF-κB) in obstructive nephropathy rats, and to explore the initial mechanism of SD for inhibiting renal interstitial fibrosis.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Totally 48 healthy Wistar rats were randomly divided into the sham-operation group (n =12) and the model group (n =36). Renal interstitial fibrosis rat model was established by unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). After successful modeling, 36 rats were randomly divided into the model group, the Chinese medicine group, and the Western medicine group, 12 in each group. Eplerenone was added in the forage at the daily dose of 100 mg/kg for rats in the Western medicine group. Chinese medicine was added in the forage at the daily dose of 26 g/kg for rats in the Chinese medicine group. Equal volume of normal saline was administered to rats in the sham-operation group and the model group. All medication was performed once daily. The obstructive kidneys were extracted ten days after medication. The pathomorphological changes were observed. The contents of serum aldosterone and MCP-1, and the protein or mRNA expression of MCP-1, α-SMA, and NF-KB were detected.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with the sham-operation group, infiltration of a large amount of inflammatory cells and collagen deposition significantly increased, serum contents of aldosterone and MCP-1 obviously increased (P < 0.01), the expression of MCP-1 mRNA and protein were significantly up-regulated (P <0.01), the protein expression of α-SMA and NF-KB were significantly enhanced in the model group (P <0.01). Com- pared with the model group, infiltration of inflammatory cells and renal collagen deposition were attenua- ted in the Chinese medicine group and the Western medicine group, the serum MCP-1 level were reduced, and the mRNA and protein expression of MCP-1 were significantly down-regulated (P <0.01), the protein expression of α-SMA and NF-KB were obviously inhibited (P <0. 01). At the same time, serum aldosterone level was reduced in the Chinese medicine group (P <0.01).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>inflammatory lesions of the renal tissue could promote the progress of interstitial fibrosis in rats with obstructive nephropathy. SD could attenuate interstitial fibrosis through reducing serum contents of aldosterone and MCP-1, down-regulating MCP-1/ NF-KB, and inhibiting the expression of α-SMA.</p>

RESUMO

Background: It is unknown if medication-overuse headache, clinically similar to chronic tension-type headache, has pre-attentive problems which may be related to pain or substance abuse. Methods: Auditory frequency deviance elicited mismatch negativity was recorded from 22 patients with chronic tension-type headache, 26 with medication-overuse headache from underlying chronic tension-type headache and 41 healthy volunteers as controls. Their depression and anxiety scores were noted. Results: There were no signifi cant differences in the N1 latency or amplitude to both standard and deviant stimuli for the different groups. However, the latency and amplitude of mismatch negativity were signifi cantly shortened and reduced at Fz, Cz, and Pz in medication-overuse headache as compared to chronic tension-type headache and normal subjects. Anxiety levels were elevated in chronic tensiontype headache and medication-overuse headache subjects compared to healthy controls but were not correlated with mismatch negativity latency or amplitude in a given group. Conclusions: In medication-overuse headache subjects, the shortened mismatch negativity latency indicates quick involuntary attention switching to auditory change, while its reduced amplitude indicates poor accuracy in discriminating early stimuli, which may be related to medication overuse rather than to the head pain experienced.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the contribution of executive function to abnormal recognition of facial expressions of emotion in schizophrenia patients.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Abnormal recognition of facial expressions of emotion was assayed according to Japanese and Caucasian facial expressions of emotion (JACFEE), Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST), positive and negative symptom scale, and Hamilton anxiety and depression scale, respectively, in 88 paranoid schizophrenia patients and 75 healthy volunteers.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Patients scored higher on the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale and the Hamilton Anxiety and Depression Scales, displayed lower JACFEE recognition accuracies and poorer WCST performances. The JACFEE recognition accuracy of contempt and disgust was negatively correlated with the negative symptom scale score while the recognition accuracy of fear was positively with the positive symptom scale score and the recognition accuracy of surprise was negatively with the general psychopathology score in patients. Moreover, the WCST could predict the JACFEE recognition accuracy of contempt, disgust, and sadness in patients, and the perseverative errors negatively predicted the recognition accuracy of sadness in healthy volunteers. The JACFEE recognition accuracy of sadness could predict the WCST categories in paranoid schizophrenia patients.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Recognition accuracy of social-/moral emotions, such as contempt, disgust and sadness is related to the executive function in paranoid schizophrenia patients, especially when regarding sadness.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To determine the optimal composition of a self-developing investment material by measuring physical and mechanical properties of mould.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>L(9) (3(4)) orthogonal design was adopted. One hundred and fifty specimens with the size of 80 mm × 20 mm × 20 mm were prepared to measure the atmospheric temperature bending strength, high temperature bending strength and residual bending strength. Nine specimens with the size of 5 mm diameter 25 mm heigh were prepared to survey the thermal expansion curve from ambient temperature to 1150°C.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Strengths were greatly affected by fine powder proportion in refractory and water/powder ratio. When the content of fine powder was 35% and water/powder ratio was 1:7.5, adequate atmospheric temperature strength and high temperature strength could be achieved. Moreover, the residual strength was moderate. The thermal extension curves of specimens in experiment group were almost similar. And the average linear expansion coefficient was (4 ∼ 5) × 10(-6)/°C.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The three kinds of bending strength of self-developing investment material are compared with commercialized investment material for titanium casting when water/powder ratio and the content of fine powder are carefully controlled.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the effect of self-developing investment (FUS-invest) on the reactive layer of titanium castings.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Three 10 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm pure titanium castings were founded using FUS-invest. Metallographical structure of reactive layer was observed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope with energy-dispersive spectrum (EDS) were used to analyze the status of composition of the casting surface. Micro-Vickers hardness was measured.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The metallograph indicated that the reactive layer was composed of coarse flake-shaped alpha phase of grains. The value of micro-Vickers hardness with the range 243 to 314 MPa had not significantly difference under the depth of 105 microm beneath the surface. The XRD pattern clearly showed the peaks of ZrO2, SiO2, Mg2TiO4 and TiO2. EDS analysis demonstrated that the main elements were Al, Si, Zr and Cl.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>FUS-invest is suited for pure titanium casting because of the thin reactive layer and less change to metallographical structure.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the effects of the improved FUS-invest investment for zirconium-oxide titanium crown and bridge on the reaction layer.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>10 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm titanium castings were invested. Spectrum analysis was done to its reaction layer, the metallographic examination was observed and Vickers hardness was measured.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The reaction layer was not obvious by the metallographic examination. The layer with plenty of Si was hardly detectable. The needle crystal layer diffused distribution on the surface of the titanium matrix. The depth was about 55 microm. Spectrum analysis showed that the contents of Si and Zr decreased as the depth increased. The microhardness, which obviously decreased from the surface to the matrix, tended to be equal with the hardness of the matrix after the depth reached 75 microm from the surface.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The thickness of the reaction layer of the improved FUS-invest investment for zirconium-oxide titanium crown and bridge was decreased to 55 microm from 85 microm, which was the thickness before improvement.</p>

Then the interpolation of climatic data for 30 years (1971-2000) was done by Sufer 7.0, and the habitat division was done by ARCGIS 9. 0.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>There were 6 correlation models between climate factors and 6 main essential oil componets were obtained, and a division map about essential oil components content of A. lancea base on clamate adaptability were drawn. It was found that the climate condition in Octobers played a key role on forming the essential oil components and the interaction of tempreture and precipitation was the most important factor on forming the essential oil components of A. lancea.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The adaptive habitat for forming the essential oil components of A. lancea was different from growing A. lancea ones. And GIS can be used perspective for division of Chinese natural medicine.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To find the development rules of microbial community in rhizoma sphere of the cultivated Atractylodes lancea.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Total bacteria, fungi and actinomyces were counted by CFU x g(-1) though dilution plate method. And genomic DNA of microbes were extracted and amplified by primers of E. coli's 27f and 1492r to get the 16S rDNA, then the restriction endonuclease Hinf was used to digest the 16S rDNA.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Total bacteria, fungi and actinomyces in 2-year old soil were lower than in 1-year old soil, they decreased 46. 14%, 49. 25%, 31.88% respectively and made the ratio of themselves changed. At the same time, all the 8 soil samples got fine 16S rDNA bands, which were about 1500 bp. And the main bands of most of the samples were found at 1000 bp, but the weak bands of each were different although most bands in the same year samples were more similar than in different year ones.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>It is indicated that the change of soil microbial community may has some relation to the continous cropping barrier of A. lancea.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizae on cultivated Atractylodes lancea.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Pot experiment of A. lancea, with (code as AM) or without (code as CK) Glomus mosseae (GM) was conducted 5 times respectively, then the biomass, essential oil, and soil nutrition, soil organism, soil microbial were detected after A. lancea were harvested.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>(1) Mycorrhizal dependency of A. lancea was 245%, and height of individuals, numbers of leaves, leaf area, biomass of A. lancea were all higher in AM than in CK (P < 0.05). (2) GC-MS analysis with cluster analysis and principal components analysis showed that there were no differences in essential oil of A. lancea between AM and CK. (T3) Total N, available N, available P and available K in AM soil were all lower than in CK soil. (4) GC-MS analysis showed organic matters changed differenly in AM soil and CK soil, components 5,6 in AM soil were higher than that in CK soil, but component 9, 10, 11 were lower in AM soil than that in CK soil. (5) Biolog detect showed AWCD of AM soil microbe were higher than that of CK soil throughout the incubation, and AWCD of the former was 0.66, and the later was 0.46 after 192 h incubation. and t-test showed, Shannon seven indices and McIntosh'seven indices were same both at 72 h and 192 h, and diversity indices of Shannon and McIntosh were also same at 72 h, but AM soil microbe were higher than CK soil microbe at 168 h (P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>AM could promote nutrition uptake, improve the function diversity and activity of microbe in rhizosphere of A. lancea, influence the composition of the organic matter, that lead the growth of A. lancea, but not to the quality.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the use of acellular dermal matrix (ADM) to improve esthetic effects of alveolar ridge in dental implantology.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Fifty patients with similar single missing tooth in the anterior maxilla were randomly divided into two groups: the ADM group was treated with dental implant therapy plus ADM transplantation; the control group was treated with dental implant therapy alone. The periodontal parameters and the changes of horizontal width of alveolar crest at implant zones were evaluated before surgery and 12 weeks after surgery.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All operated sites healed uneventfully. Mean horizontal width of alveolar crest in ADM group increased by (3.10 +/- 0.64) mm at 12 weeks and the control group increased by (0.30 +/- 0.50) mm, The volume increase showed a significant difference groups (P < 0.05). Mean horizontal width of alveolar crest in ADM group was (11.50 +/- 1.48) mm and the contralateral alveolar crest was (11.60 +/- 1.60) mm (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>ADM is a suitable material for the treatment of soft tissue deformities due to its biocompatibility and horizontal gain of soft tissue.</p>
